OUR STORY

It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. Denver Islamic Society/Masjid Al Nur is rooted in the belief that we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference in our community. With a variety of active projects and a large volunteer staff, we harness our skills and resources to successfully achieve our goals.

EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
At Denver Islamic Society/Masjid Al Nur, the community is diverse, and boasts of individuals from different continents and walks of life. Although the history of our community traces its roots back several decades, DIS has grown to encompass community members from converts to multigenerational families to young upstarts and more. Our center is open every day of the year and serves as a place of worship, a place of gathering, a hub for community events, interfaith dialogue, and a cultural resource.

DIS is a sanctuary for all, embracing Muslims and others, men and women, young and elderly, and individuals of all abilities. Guided by the principles of Islam, we foster a welcoming environment that celebrates diversity, champions equity, and promotes inclusion. We uphold the dignity and worth of every person, ensuring that our programs, services, and facilities are accessible and respectful to all. By cultivating a space of mutual respect and understanding, we strive to build a community where everyone feels valued and empowered to participate fully. Our doors and hearts are always open, and we stand united in our dedication to justice, kindness, and compassion for all. Together, we are stronger and better.

Our center welcomes visitors of all faiths and is open to anyone who wants to learn about our religion and our ever-growing community. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) instructed us clearly, “Let anyone who believes in God and the Last Day be generous to his neighbor, and let anyone who believes in God and the Last Day be generous to his guest.”

Our community is also dedicated to the larger community of metro Denver and that of Colorado, and we are more than willing and happy to arrange a visit for anyone who wants to stop by and learn about us.

VISITING US
Denver Islamic Society/Masjid Al Nur is located at 2124 S Birch St, Denver, CO 80222, and given our convenient location off of I-25 and Evans Ave, we are easily accessible by road, as well as for public transit passengers using bus and light rail via the Colorado Blvd RTD station. We are usually open daily during the five prayer times, and we can give tours and help answer questions for visitors, if an appointment is scheduled in advance by emailing us.

We have two parking lots - in the front of the facility and the rear. The entrance for the men's section is close to the front parking lot, and the entrance for the ladies' section is close to the rear parking lot. We look forward to you visiting us!

A beautiful and peaceful mosque with a very welcoming atmosphere. The management takes good care of the place, and the environment is calm and respectful. May Allah reward everyone who contributes to maintaining this mosque
